A "Berry" Good Day

I wish I got some better pictures of our play day this morning but this is the best one. This summer we started up the play days every week so that us moms can get out and let the little ones play with someone their own height. Honestly, I think it's more for the moms than the kids. It was so nice to talk with great friends and have time to relax. Valerie made an incredible lunch for the kids and the moms (thanks Valerie!!) and we all had a great time. Just had to put in a picture of my daughter's big smile. She loves smiling! However, she has been somewhat of a leech the last few days. Any time she is not attached to me in some way, there are sounds of protest. Daddy got to hold her last night to give me a little break. We went to pick berries at my parent's house since they're out of town for a few days and the berries are ripe. We got quite a few but along with the berries came a stain that rivaled my fingerpainting days....or is that blood? (I just couldn't resist taking that picture) Seriously, if anyone has had any experience picking blackberries, you know that the thorns on those suckers are daunting enough to let the sweet things stay where they are. That and the unnerving reality that there are more bugs in the places you can't see than those you can and reaching for that elusive berry might rustle up some unwelcome attention. I settled on just 2 bags this time.

Last night we had a wonderful visit from Jenna and Joey. While Will and I sat on the couch, our guests were inundated with toddler talking and clinging. It was kind of like having a babysitter while we were home. Aunt Jenna and Uncle Joey were a big hit and it was so nice of them to take time out to come see us. Even though we live so close, lives get so busy that we hardly see each other.

Since it was bedtime, Tyler had to have his "mush" book read to him but this time he wanted Uncle Joey to do the deed. It was so cute to see the 4 of them immersed in "Good Night Moon." They didn't want to go to bed but, eventually, we rounded them up and tucked them in (Mikayla and Tyler, that is).

Then Lynnea had Uncle Joey all to herself. She seemed to enjoy sucking on his nose for a brief moment but then, of course, had to go back to mommy. UGH....*this too shall pass*
